raw food and kundalini

[ posted to kundalist 9/21/08 ]

In this video Gabriel Cousens makes some statements regarding the power of raw foods to alter consciousness. And he offers tons of scientific data on how alive raw foods are versus cooked. And any one who follows a raw food diet reports an increase in ‘energy’.

So the questions are:

* is food an indirect way to get prana?
* is the increase in energy reported on a raw food diet symptomatic of kundalini awakening?
* is Cousens as a Kundalini Shaktipat guru more adept than the other 99% of them who are (probably) cooked food eaters?
* what ’state of consciousness’ do raw fooders achieve that cooked fooders do not? In India, the keyword for heightened consciousness is ’sattvic’, not ‘raw’. Raw food can be tamasic, rajasic, or sattvic. In most raw food diets I see an attempt to recreate the cooked tamasic and rajasic diet. At 7:55 Cousens says that raw fooders they become filled with understanding and wisdom and more of a connection to the ‘Living Field’ — but the living field is far more comprehensive than waking state annamaya kosha consciousness. All actions, everywhere in the universe occur via shakti and one who feels this is said to have experienced Brahman, the all-pervading changeless divine.

Personally: I have experienced tons of difficulties on cooked food since starting with raw food about 10 years ago. I have been beaten into a raw diet. And a simple non-gourmet raw diet. Nonetheless, I am not a naturist raw foodist. I am a transcendentalist and practitioner of a kundalini-based meditation.
My opinion is the same as what Klaus Wolfram stated in ‘Fruits: Best of All Foods’ http://static.livingcosmos.org/fruitarian/wolfram-fruit — all food harms the body, raw food simply does less so.

As transcendentalist, I see the animal drives (food, sex, fear, sleep) as something to be mastered, not celebrated. Thus, I am a minority in the raw foods community, which tends to see Nature and God as one in the same. And all natural acts are godly acts.

Creating a healthy body is nice, but if it leads to a body fetish, then dropping the body (at death) will be an unpleasant experience. It is best to know exactly what you are, where you are, and what you are capable of instead of knowing exactly what a temporal body needs.

who are you and where are you? eating for health…

I am currently following a fruitarian raw food diet… Dr. Douglas Graham’s 80/10/10rv.  Now, the “wrong” way to look at this diet is that it is going to make this body healthy. Instead, I am doing my best to leave this body alone To expand the sense of self beyond this body to REAL ME.

There should be no hankering to extend the “life” of this body, for the REAL LIFE is everywhere in all actions – birth, maintenance, death and decay.

LOGIC

Dr. Graham has a ton of logic to support the diet. But I also like the Klaus Wolfram approach: other foods keep you locked in your reproductive and excretory organs. How to expand into superconsciousness that way?

UPDATE

It only took a bit of Sri Aurobindo’s writing to see that perfection is achieved in this body.

You either stay out of your 1st chakra or not

If you want to consume tamasic foods, then they will hang out and activate your reproductive and excretory organs. You will be dragged down into them.

It’s your choice.

meat sucks!

Right on the heals of my meat works post, I have grown tired of living in my reproductive and excretory organs. Any tamasic food will pool and congregate in the stomach for long periods of time, and serve as the breeding ground for negative emotions and thoughts (not to mention an un-sexy pot belly… harharhar).

Klaus Wolfram, in his masterwork “Fruits: Best of All Foods” made all this clear.

meat works!

The Eureka Society is a system of Inner Light and Sound (Sant Mat).  While most Sant Mat practitioners are vegetarian, no vegetarian has made it to level 2 in their system – they feel that meat strengthens the aura.

So with that in mind, I dont need to browbeat myself about this current meat phase. I had a beef burger and a buffalor burger last night. They tasted good. They were filling. And they did not affect this morning’s meditation… not really at least. It took me a little while to tune in, but perhaps that is to be expected?

The power of sow (as in a pig)

In my current spiritual system, we do not inhibit ourselves. We do not eat “correctly” — we eat whatever we want. Of course, 3-4 hours before meditation, we dont eat a heavy meal, but other than that, we hold nothing back.

And I think that’s good. Either way, you mind is going to tweak. If you start eating correctly, then you feel tense and nervous. And inhibited. And limited.

Me, I suffer from fatigue and a pot belly. But my mind is happy because I am feeding it everything it wants. And slowly, ever so slowly (what’s the rush?!), I occasionally want nothing to eat or something “correct” to eat.

That’s how Zui did it. So that’s how I’m going to do it!

the process is starting to reduce my dietary urges

For the last two days a normal meal of meat and veggies has led to extreme fatigue and some stomach pain. It is nearing time to let it go.  Also, I was so heavy at the start of laughter yoga today because of the pizza I wolfed down just before heading out.

It really seemed like I needed to fill myself. But when I got there I really regretted it.

All the orgasm and nutrition you need in 1 15 minute session!

Who needs to spend time huffing and puffing and groaning and moaning when you can simply do Siddha Yoga and get the same bliss?

Who needs to shovel pound after pound of down their throat when they can have the true life source (not praa.na!) infiltrate their being?

hey where’s the sex drive?

This morning upon waking, there were several factors which should’ve led to a horny me. But without going into detail, none of them led to any horniness. Even various mental fantasies and masturbation did not lead to all sorts of horniness coursing through my body.

It seems some sort of shift has occurred… and without me making any changes or restricting myself. I am eating lots of meat – which normally makes me really fiery and hot.
